Instructor: Mr. Dorr H. Clark (see credential)

Our Advanced Team Policy & Parli Debate Camp caters to experienced debaters aiming to elevate their skills to the next level by preparing for a campaign of both events. When Mr. Clark first brought Parli to Stoa, he predicted that eventually all high-end competitors in both Team Policy and Lincoln-Douglas would also be Parli competitors, and over time that proved to be the case. This is why we offer a camp combining both events, focusing on the synergy between them.
We will teach winning strategies for Stoa Parli, beginning with a completely fresh take on Resolutional Analysis and Framing, for each of the resolution types.
We will discuss advanced debate theory, including, for example, deconstructing all Counterplan paradigms. We will enrich debaters' Team Policy arsenals with Parli techniques. In addition, we will examine several current fads in Stoa debate, many of which have become popular despite often being strategically suboptimal. We will discuss how to respond to these common patterns by first stepping outside the trend and then learning how to use it to your strategic advantage. We will analyze the upcoming campaign and discuss how it will play out. One goal is to launch next year’s AFF so students can hit the ground running when the first check marks are handed out.
Minimum one year of Team Policy debate experience is required. Some Parli experience is preferred.
